About the information sessions

Employer information sessions give you the chance to discuss career opportunities with interested and qualified candidates in a session that's devoted to your organization.

  • Leverage our expertise to target students from specific academic disciplines and levels of study
  • Reach potential co-op students, interns and new grads across all faculties

When you book your employer information session through UBC Centre for Student Involvement & Careers, we work on your behalf to plan and promote your session in partnership with faculties, co-op departments and student associations. We also take care of coordinating services such as room booking, audio-visual equipment and catering.

Whats included?

The $250.00 fee (+ Tax) includes:

  • Classroom space set up with tables and chairs, located in proximity to target audience when possible
  • Basic audio-visual equipment (projector, screen, laptop)
  • Marketing and promotion of your information session to students
  • Day-of-event support, including directional signage
  • Member of Centre for Student Involvement & Careers staff available at event

Optional services

The following options can be added to your information session at additional cost:

  • Catering
  • On-site audio-visual technician
  • Conference room or space in certain locations such as the Student Union Building or Ponderosa Building

Please ask a Centre for Student Involvement & Careers representative about cancellation fees when you book your employer information session.

Request an info session

You can request an info session using CareersOnline. All dates for events are on a first-come, first-served basis.  Our policy is to not host organizations targeting the same groups of students on the same nights and times.

  1. Select the Add New button at the bottom of the page.  
  2. Complete the form and click "Submit". The information provided in the form will be displayed to students.
  3. You will receive a follow-up message within 3 business days of your request submission.

We recommend that you make your request at least 2 weeks in advance of your requested information session date in order to have enough time to promote to students.

Tips for planning a session

Based on previous experience, we recommend the following guidelines your information sessions:

  • Date: Monday to Thursday
  • Time: 6:00 pm start time, lasting a maximum of two hours
  • Format: Students appreciate a combination of presentation, Q&A and networking

Cancellation policy

We understand that there may be scheduling conflicts and changes to your recruiting plans.  We do request that you let us know about these changes to dates or cancellations as soon as possible.  You will be invoiced for your session if you cancel within 5 business days of your scheduled event.
