About Food Hub Market Volunteers
The Food Hub Market is a student-led, not-for-profit initiative committed to enhancing food security for the UBC student community.
Food Hub Market volunteers support our mission to provide affordable groceries while fostering a welcoming space that promotes food literacy, cultural vibrancy, and social connections at the UBC Vancouver campus. There are 3 volunteer teams:
- Operations
Support daily Food Hub Market operations, connect students with resources, and promote community well-being. - Programming
Support food skill-building workshops and campus info booths. - Social Media
Create content related to food, nutrition, and food security topics for the Food Hub Market Instagram.
Who can apply?
All UBC students who have interest in food, nutrition, and food security are welcome to apply.
Each year, there are over 25 positions available across the 3 volunteer teams.

Time commitment
Volunteers must commit to at least 1 full volunteer term. You should be prepared to dedicate 2 to 3 hours per week to your shifts during your volunteer term. There will also be a volunteer appreciation event near the end of each term that will last approximately 1.5 hours.
There are 3 volunteer terms throughout the academic year:
- Winter Term 1: September to last week of classes in December
- Winter Term 2: January to last week of classes in April
- Summer Term 1: May to last week of classes in June
How to apply

Each volunteer term has its own recruitment period during the following times:
- Winter Term 1: Late July
- Winter Term 2: Late November
- Summer Term 1: Late March
