About the project

The West 8th Day Program seeks to expand its curriculum to developing and teaching life skills, as well as pre-employment skills. Teachers at DDA will be presented with pedagogies and ideas that are out of the box, well researched and tested out.


Kick-off Orientation :

Saturday, February 3 from 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Project :

Tuesday, February 20 from 8.00am - 3.30pp

Wednesday, February 21 from 8.30am - 4:00pm

Thursday, February 22 from 8.30am - 4:00pm

What you will do

  • Attend a quick orientation at DDA to learn about the current day-to-day activities and programs
  • Research and collate relevant sources that cater to the development of a  well-balanced and inclusive curriculum that teaches pre-employment and life skills
  • Contribute innovative ideas that can potentially be incorporated into the curriculum
  • Communicate with team members about progress and distribution of work
  • Present a summary of findings at the end of the project


  •  Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or special needs
  •  Experience and/or interest in program/event/curriculum planning
  •  Strong interest in developing a new curriculum
  •  Efficient and resourceful research skills
  •  Creative thinking
  •  Communication and time-management skills
  •  Able to work in a team
  •  A background in Education, Social Work or Psychology is an asset
