About the school

Grandview/¿uuqinak’uuh Elementary is an Inner City school with a strong commitment to forming and maintaining successful partnerships with local community organizations. Our school enrolls 160 K-7 students who are from a variety of nations throughout Canada and the world. 67% of our students are Aboriginal and represent diverse First Nations from across Canada. The cultural background of our non-aboriginal students includes Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish and Filipino heritage.

Students at Grandview engage in experiential learning to build their connection to our school and expand their background knowledge base. A variety of field studies opportunities, outdoor education and environmental focuses through recycling, composting and hands on gardening are valued tremendously by students, staff and parents. Grandview also has thriving Athletics, Music, and Fine Arts programs. 

What you'll do

One-to-One Reading Buddy

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday

Provide one-on-one reading support for students ranging from Kindergarten to grade 7. Training, reading strategies and books will be provided.

Visions Afterschool Program

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 2:30-5:30pm or 3:00-6:00pm

Assist in providing after school recreation programs for children aged 8-13. Activities vary from day to day and may include arts and crafts, athletics, cooking, and gardening. Field trips might include parks, skating, swimming, art galleries, and other local attractions.

Scheduling

One-to-One Reading Buddy: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 9:00-10:30am, 11:00-12:00pm, or 1:00-3:00pm

Visions Afterschool Program: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 2:30-5:30pm or 3:00-6:00pm
