About the program

Program dates: ​June 11th - August 10th, 2018

The City University of Hong Kong College of Science and Engineering Summer Research Exchange Programme is designed to give engineering and science students the opportunity to conduct scientific research related to their academic studies widening their horizons and applying their knowledge practically. Students will conduct research in an assigned topic area under the supervision of a CUHK faculty. Eligibility and prerequisites

  • Be a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year student (including students graduating in May) in Science or Applied Science.
  • Meet the Go Global eligibility requirements

  • Meet any additional lab project requirements as outlined on the program website.

Awards and funding


You are welcome to apply for on-campus dormitory in your application. To apply, simply check in the Online Application System process and then select your room preferences (single or double).

Your request will be carefully considered; however, due to limited rooms, +R1 students are not guaranteed with dormitory. Alternatively, off-campus housing information will be provided.

Program costs and fees

Students are responsible for the costs of travel, insurance, living and accommodations associated with participating in this program. For more information on the cost of living in Hong Kong please check out this website.

Students accepted into this program will be charged the Go Global fee once acceptance has been confirmed.

How to apply

  1. Review the project list or available labs on the partner website to ensure there is a project or lab you are interested in
  2. Apply to register your interest with Go Global online
  3. Go Global reviews all applications on a rolling basis and contacts students with partner application instructions within 2 weeks of submission.
  4.  Each partner application may request different supporting documents. Have the following documents ready to include with your partner application:
    • Official transcript (provided by Go Global)
    • Curriculum Vitae
  5. Once you’ve collected all documents submit your hard copy documents to Go Global by February 15, 2018, for submission to the partner.

Go Global fee and withdrawal policy

If you are accepted by a host university for a structured research program, you will be asked to confirm you participation in the program and you will be charged the Go Global fee of $415. The fee will be posted to your SSC account following confirmation of your acceptance. Go Global will contact you with complete information on how to pay the fee.

You will not be able to make payment in-person at Brock Hall (Vancouver), University Centre (Okanagan), the Go Global office or your financial institution. You cannot pay this fee directly through your financial institution’s online banking interface as payments made through this method will only be counted towards your tuition and your Go Global fee will remain unpaid.

You will receive a $93.25 refund if you withdraw from the program in writing to your Go Global Advisor before March 31, 2018. If your notification of acceptance from the host university is after the refund deadline, then you have two weeks from date of acceptance to withdraw and receive a partial refund. Please consult with your Go Global advisor if you have any questions.

You might not need to see an advisor. General questions about the Go Global Exchange process can be answered at the Main Office at International house (Vancouver).
