About the program

Program dates: ​6 weeks with two sessions:

Early-July – early-August

Late-July – mid-August

National Taiwan University is one of the world’s leading research institutions and is considered the best university in Taiwan. National Taiwan University’s summer programs provide UBC students a unique opportunity to increase your international network while gaining laboratory research experience.

The Laboratory Research & Culture Program  allows students to participate in research in one of NTU’s state-of-the-art labs while enhancing their knowledge of Taiwan through a cultural course consisting of field-trips and lectures. The program involves lab research, lectures, and field trips ensuring students have the opportunity to explore environmental and sociocultural aspects of Taiwan.

Eligibility and prerequisites

  •  Students should be in good standing in their 3rd or 4th year.
  • Meet the Go Global eligibility requirements
  • Meet any additional lab project requirements as outlined on the program website

Awards and funding

Housing

Students are encouraged to apply for on-campus dormitory onthe partner application. Room preferences include single or double. Requests will be carefully considered; however, due to limited rooms, +R1 students are not guaranteed with dormitory. Alternatively, off-campus housing information will be provided.

Program costs and fees

Students accepted into this program will be charged the Go Global fee once acceptance has been confirmed.

How to apply

  1. Review the project list or available labs on the partner website to ensure there is a project or lab you are interested in
  2. Apply to register your interest with Go Global online
  3. Go Global reviews all applications on a rolling basis and contacts students with partner application instructions within 2 weeks of submission.
  4.  Each partner application may request different supporting documents. For National Taiwan University prepare to have the following documents ready to include with your partner application:
    • A passport-size photo in jpg format.
    • Statement of purpose (in Chinese or English). This is limited to a 1-2 page PDF file.
    • Official transcript of academic records in PDF format - Your UBC transcript has been uploaded onto Gateway. You are responsible for obtaining transcripts from any other post-secondary institutions that you have attended prior to UBC.
    • A letter of recommendation in PDF file (in Chinese or English )
    • Student enrollment verification 在學證明 (only students who hold PRC passport are required to upload)
  5. Once you’ve collected all documents, submit your partner application online by the application deadline.

You might not need to see an advisor. General questions about the Go Global Exchange process can be answered at the Main Office at the UBC Life Building (Vancouver).
