Mathematics majors apply math, probability, statistics and the principles of business and finance to analyze statistical data and assess business risks. Mathematics at UBC provides an excellent balance of pure and applied mathematics and is useful, important, and interesting. Mathematics is applied as an essential tool in many different fields including business, finance, industry, government, education, and social sciences. It includes theory, analysis, probability and statistics. In addition, students may build mathematical models of real world systems to formulate and solve practical problems.
