F. M. CLEMENT Prize in Food Market Analysis

Award descriptionA prize of $650 has been made available through an endowment established in memory of Dr. Frederick Moore Clement who served with distinction for 30 years as Dean of Agriculture, retiring in 1949. He believed in education through agriculture as well as in agriculture and recognized the great diversities of individuality, interest and motivation in students. Through activities directed to public service, Dean Clement made his greatest contribution to the agricultural industry. His persistent efforts established improved methods of marketing in British Columbia and Canada. The prize is awarded to the fourth year student majoring in Food Market Analysis in the B.Sc. in Food, Nutrition, and Health program, with the highest aggregate standing in the subjects of the third and fourth years, including the graduating thesis. This prize is one of a series of awards designated as the Agricultural Sciences Founding Faculty Prizes, established to honour the men who were responsible for the organization and development of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of British Columbia. On the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the appointment of Leonard S. Klinck as Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, May 11, 1974, these prize awards were established by Dean Emeritus Blythe Eagles and Mrs. Eagles and were endowed by the Agriculture Undergraduate Society. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems.
