F. E. BUCK Prize in Ornamental Horticulture

A prize of $750 is available through an endowment established by Dean Emeritus Blythe Eagles, Mrs. Eagles and members of Dr. Buck's family in memory of Professor Frank E. Buck. This award is to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the appointment of Leonard S. Klinck as Dean of Agriculture, May 11, 1974. His contributions to the University and the community are best expressed by the quotation "Woven into the stuff of other men's lives''. He was a member of the first Point Grey Town Planning Commission and a founding member of the Agricultural Institute of Canada. For 29 years he inspired students and colleagues with his love of the orderliness of nature. The prize is for a fourth year student in Plant Science with interests in Ornamental Horticulture with the highest aggregate standing in the subjects of their 3rd and 4th year, including graduating thesis. This prize is in a series of awards designated as the Agricultural Sciences Founding Faculty Prizes, to honour the men responsible for the organization and development of Agricultural Sciences at UBC. Recommendations made by the Faculty of Land & Food Systems.
