About the Pre-doctoral internships
UBC Counselling Services offers four internship positions to doctoral students registered in Counselling Psychology and Clinical Psychology. Our program provides advanced clinical training and supervision in a multifaceted university counselling context. Interns provide individual and group counselling to a diverse student population across a broad range of mental health and well-being concerns. Interns receive clinical training in assessment and conceptualization, crisis intervention, treatment planning, intervention, and working within the universities collaborative care model. Interns receive four hours per week of individual supervision by registered psychologists and provide supervision to master’s level trainees. Over the course of the training year, interns complete a minimum of 1800 hours of supervised work experience. Opportunities to work with student athletes is available for applicants with training in sport psychology.
UBC Counselling Services has had a CPA Accreditation Site Visit in June 2018 and anticipates hearing back from the CPA Panel about our accreditation status in the Fall of 2018.
