Club Spotlight: Outside-In International Photojournal

Club Spotlights

With over 370 clubs on campus, there's definitely something for everyone at UBC.

This week, we’re showcasing the Outside-In International Photojournal, and how you can be a part of their publication.

This club produces UBC's only student-run publication for international photojournalism and is open to students from all disciplines. This unique publication provides an opportunity for students to share photos and written work that narrate socio-political and economic issues within a global context.

The leader behind it all, Paige Jung, has this to share about her 2 years with the club:

“It’s incredible to be part of a community of students who share a passion for photojournalism and global affairs. This photojournal acts as a creative and unique medium for students to share their perspective on the world. As both the Editor-In-Chief and someone with a love of exploring cultures, this photojournal has allowed me to connect with students from all different backgrounds who value the art of storytelling.”

How to get involved

Each year, Outside-In also hosts a free conference open to students, staff, and the general public showcasing a panel of renowned journalists and photojournalists. Past speakers have ranged from Canada's only Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Paul Watson, to conflict reporters, environmentalists, and young photojournalists.

Whether you’re an aspiring journalist or want to check out some stellar student photography, attend this year’s conference on Friday, March 16th. Catering will be provided; plus, you’ll get a chance to network with the best in the field. Stay tuned for more details including the line-up of guest speakers.
