UBC offers many different ways for students to get involved. Regardless of your experience or skillset, there’s a student leadership opportunity for you to make an impact on life on campus. Check out these ways you can influence the student experience at UBC!


Campus Tour Student Ambassadors

Be an official representative of UBC! This is your chance to share your knowledge of campus life to students and families—and become an integral part of both international and domestic student recruitment.

Why apply

In this paid position, you’ll gain public speaking and group management skills along with the opportunity to make an impactful first impression on prospective students.

Who can apply

All undergraduate students, preferably with experience and familiarity with UBC campus life.

Time commitment

Up to 10 hours a week and bi-weekly team meetings on Thursday evenings.

Collegia Advisors 

It can be easy to feel a bit disconnected from campus life if you're a commuter student. Luckily, UBC Collegia serves as a welcoming space for first-year commuters to relax, socialize, and build a home away from home.

Why apply

Be part of building and maintaining a community for first-year commuter students. In this paid position, you’ll gain mentorship opportunities and student leadership experience, and refine your interpersonal skills.

Who can apply

Students with second-year standing or higher in the 2020/21 academic year, preferably those with experience as a commuter student.

Time commitment

10 hours a week during the academic year.

Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC)

Have an idea you want to showcase? MURC is a conference for UBC undergraduate students to present their research paper or project in front of their fellow UBC students, family, and friends.

Get feedback on your research from faculty and adjudicators while developing your presentation skills! 

Who can apply

Any undergraduate student who is:

  • Working on a research project or paper in class 
  • Participating in a faculty-supervised research project
  • Having a research idea supported by a faculty member
  • A mentee of the URO REX program

Reading Week Projects 

Looking to make the most of your break? The Centre for Community Engaged Learning provides opportunities for UBC students to participate in themed community projects in elementary schools and non-profits over the Greater Vancouver Area during the February break.
