The Phil Lind Initiative 2019 series will explore the theme of “America and the Climate Crisis” with some of the foremost intellectuals on the climate crisis. This Tuesday, come out to the first talk of the series with Robert Bullard, considered the “Father of Environmental Justice”, and a Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy from Texas Southern University.

Lion in the Streets

This play is the latest put on by the UBC Theatre Department and is full of hope and devastating beauty.

Lion in the Streets centres around Isobel, the ghost of a murdered 9-year-old Portuguese girl. Returning to the neighbourhood 17 years after her death, young Isobel drops into the lives of her neighbours and reveals the hauntingly raw underbelly of human nature.

UBC Rec: Gladiator

This event is just like how the Romans competed—except not at all.

If you’re intrigued by “unconventional” activities, enjoy having a laugh while competing with friends, and always dreamt of becoming a gladiator when you grew up, this is the event for you! Get together with 6-10 of your best friends and compete in this classic UBC Rec event in pursuit of fun, laughter, and eternal glory. More info.

Winter Classic
Why you should go
This is as much (if not more) fun than a Canucks game, with the added bonus of being right here on campus.
DETAILS
Winter Classic is the Homecoming of hockey games. Come to the game early for live music and DJs, hockey skills games, giveaways, and lots of food and drinks. The game sold out in 2017 and 2018, so be sure to get your tickets sooner rather than later! More info.
