Dance Horizons x Pilates Collaboration

Staying active is extra important during stressful periods (a.k.a. midterms and papers season). If you’ve never tried dance, or pilates, this is your chance to give them both a shot for cheap! UBC Pilates Club is collaborating with Dance Horizons to offer this 20-minute pilates session, followed by a 40-minute dance class!

Making Sense of Being an Indigenous Scholar
Why you should go
This talk will focus on what it meant for Jo-ann Archibald (Q’um Q’um Xiiem) to be one of the very few Indigenous scholars in the academy.
DETAILS
Jo-ann Archibald, from the Sto:lo First Nation, will tell stories about her mentors, milestone moments, and key challenges related to her faculty and leadership positions at UBC. Core themes will include making systemic changes in the academy, creating space for Indigenous knowledge systems, working with Indigenous communities and organizations, and facilitating opportunities for reconciliation.

Much Ado About Nothing
Why you should go
This Shakespeare play is notorious for being funny, witty, and heartfelt.
DETAILS
Thou must attend this play. Even if Shakespeare isn’t your cup of tea, this show has something for you. This version of the play is set in 2018, but retains the classic love story of Beatrice and Benedick and all the original drama, action, and terrible communication skills. The play features the graduating class of the BFA Acting program (so you know it’s gonna be good). More info.

Remembrance Day Ceremony
Why you should go
Come pay your respects to all who have served in time of war, military conflict, and peace.
DETAILS
This ceremony will include short readings, remarks from special guests, and musical performances by the UBC Opera Ensemble. Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony. UBC President Santa J. Ono will be hosting, with emcee Professor Nancy Hermiston, O.C., and featured guests include the Honourable David Eby, MLA for Point Grey, AMS President Marium Hamid, and others.
