A part of the Wellness Centre’s noon-hour wellness series, this session will provide problem-solving tips, teach you about 3 different problem-solving models, and allow you to learn and practice problem-solving skills with other students.

Sovereignty Wars: Reconciling America with the World

Why you should go

If you’ve been devouring news since the 2016 American election, and even before, this talk will be right up your alley.

This talk will touch on today’s pressing issues, including the sovereignty debate and the ability of the United States to shape its destiny in a global age. Stewart M. Patrick is the James H. Binger senior fellow in global governance and director of the International Institutions and Global Governance (IIGG) Program at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). He will be presenting this talk on his latest book. The talk will be chaired by UBC Political Science Professor Brian Job.

Harvest Feastival

Why you should go

This event isn’t the cheapest, but the delicious, fresh, and local menu paired with lots of after-dinner entertainment make it worth it.

DETAILS

Celebrate the start of fall with fresh food from the UBC Farm, and a menu developed by UBC executive chef David Speight. It’d be worth attending the event for the menu itself, but if you need more convincing, there’s also Opera, improv, and more after the meal. This is the fifth year of Feastival, which is quickly becoming a UBC tradition.

Fall Softball Classic

Why you should go

This is a great way to get to know a new group of friends, or bring together an old friend group for some competitive fun.

DETAILS

This CoRec tournament aims to bring out your competitive edge. Get some friends together, register by Sep 18, and meet up this Friday for some good old-fashioned softball. This tournament is self-umped, and you’ll have a chance to advance to semi-finals and finals if you’re up to the challenge…but it’s open to teams of any skill level!

UBC Music Initiative: September Shift

Why you should go

You can sign up for an open mic or just enjoy the food and live music at this icebreaker.

DETAILS

UBC Music Initiative is a club on campus that gives students the opportunity to connect the UBC community with their music. Their annual icebreaker includes live music, an open mic, good food, and lots of fun games, and is a great way to meet fellow music lovers.

UBC Homecoming

Why you should go

There’s no better way to show your school spirit than attending Homecoming.

DETAILS

The big day is coming up! Homecoming is an annual event that welcomes students to campus, welcomes back alumni, and celebrates Thunderbird pride. After the annual Trek across campus, you’ll arrive at the Homecoming Street Party for games, live music, cold drinks, and great food. The main event starts at 5:00 with the big game between UBC and the Calgary Dinos. More info.
