Yes, it’s almost October. Yes, that’s wild because the term started yesterday. And yes, school is starting to get crazy…but…what was I saying? Oh yeah, events! Check these out.

Managing your Budget workshop

Why you should go

If you’ve been treatin’ yo self to a latte 7 times a week, you might want to consider a spending budget.

This handy workshop will introduce you to the available financial resources for students, teach you how to create a student budget, and give you some tips and tricks for smart spending—because being a student is expensive, and it can be hard to know where to start with budgeting your money. More info.

  • When: Tue, Sep 25 | 2:00 - 3:00 pm

Flow Yoga at the UBC Bookstore

Why you should go

If you’re curious about yoga but don’t want to pay the big bucks, this $5 class is made for you.

Embrace the Vancouver stereotype by stopping by for some yoga between classes. It’ll help you de-stress, it’s great exercise, and it’ll stretch your back out of its permanent hunched-over-a-keyboard posture. Imagine that!

  • Price: $5

  • Where: UBC Bookstore

Beckett 18: It all...ah well

Why you should go

You’ll see some great theatre…and get cake and champagne after the performance.

If you’ve never seen a Samuel Beckett play before, or if you’ve never heard of the guy, do yourself a favour and check out this showcase. His plays are curiously absurd and delightful, which is why this is Gerald Vanderwoude’s 18th time directing works by Beckett for UBC Theatre and Film. Plus, there’s cake and champagne after the show, and the proceeds go towards a student scholarship fund!

  • When: Wed, Sep 26 - Sat, Sep 29 | 7:30 pm

  • Price: $10

  • Where: Frederic Wood Theatre

  • When: Fri, Sep 28 | 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
