Nothing cures a cold like a hearty soup. It’s a snack that you can eat and drink—what’s not to love? Unfortunately, when you live on campus, or if you’re constantly on the go, it’s hard to make yourself a comforting soup when you’re feeling under the weather.

Thankfully, UBC’s many noodle soup options are here to the rescue!

Today, we’ll be guiding you through the variety of noodle soup options around campus that will be sure to fill your empty stomach and comfort your weary soul.

We went on an adventure to seek out and review our favourite noodle soups on campus, stomaching food comas and soup bellies to find the perfect brothy delight.

Bubble Waffle Cafe

DIY Chicken Noodle Soup (with rice noodles, chicken meatballs, and tofu)

Price: $10.49

Filling rating: It’s everything you need to recover from a bad cold, and then some.

Broth flavour: Savoury and uplifting.

Meg: Drinking this soup instantly makes me feel happier. Must be something about the broth that’s a perfect balance between tasty and healthy.

Sara: I feel more energized and definitely full before I can even finish this bowl.

Meg: Also, these chicken meatballs might be my new favourite thing.

Sara: Absolutely! This would give me enough strength to fight through any sickness and ace my midterm.

Broth flavour: A melting pot of many different flavours.

Sara: Umami? More like “Ooh! Mami!” So tasty!

Meg: My worries instantly disappear because I’m having too much fun with the chewiness of their udon.

Sara: I love soup with a good egg. And this is a very good egg.

Filling rating: Every bite is a surprise.

Broth flavour: Out of this world!

Meg: I can smell the flavour from a mile away. I think it’s good comfort food for someone who feels heated and wants to channel it through their taste buds.

Sara: It’s got a unique Pan-Asian flavour to it.

Meg: Indeed. I’ve never had anything like it.

Sara: At the very least, it’ll soothe a hungry belly.

Filling rating: Nourishment for your tummy.

Broth flavour: It’s got that kick to it.

Sara: So this isn’t really a soup, but I felt like this vegan option is jam-packed with all the necessary health benefits (and carbs!). It’s rich with the veggies you need to relieve you from your cold.

Meg: It tastes so healthy that I feel like I’m allowed to eat 10 large fries after this.

Sara: I would gravitate towards this on a rainy day!
