Your UBCcard offers you a lot at UBC

In just a couple of weeks, you’ll be at UBC immersing yourself into all that life on campus has to offer. Our pro tip: keep your UBCcard with you at all times!

Your key to UBC

Your UBCcard serves as your official student identification (hint: what you’ll need to bring with you to exams) and proves you're currently enrolled at UBC.

If you're living on campus, some residences allow you to set up your UBCcard to give you keyless access to your building!

Your UBCcard is also your library card and you can use it to pay for copying, printing, or scanning at any of the 8 libraries on campus.

On top of all that, your UBCcard also works like a debit card! Load it with money and use it to make purchases at the UBC Bookstore or one of UBC’s many food services locations. (Even if you’re not on a residence meal plan, you can sign up for a Chomp UBCcard plan to get 5% off!)

How to get your UBCcard

To avoid waiting in a long line-up in September, upload your own digital photo and apply for your UBCcard online today!

Apply now

You can pick up your UBCcard at the UBC Access Desk in the UBC Bookstore. Remember to check opening hours before you swing by.

For students living in residence

To receive your UBCcard in your welcome package, you must apply by the following deadlines:

  • Aug. 16 for Jump Start students moving in on Aug. 24.
  • Aug. 23 for students who are not participating in Jump Start and are moving into residence on Aug. 31.

Perks and benefits

UBC is home to some famous attractions and your UBCcard is your free ticket to gain entry.

Take in the lovely sights at the UBC Botanical or Nitobe Gardens, the Museum of Anthropology, or the Beaty Biodiversity Museum simply by showing your card at the door.

You can also scan your card at the UBC Aquatic Centre for free access to this state-of-the-art facility.

Additionally, your UBCcard will get you discounts around campus and Vancouver, including Topshop/Topman, Trees Organic locations, and the Vancouver Art Gallery to name a few!

If you lose your card

Life happens. If your card is ever lost or stolen, you can request a new one through UBCcard Online Services. (A replacement card is subject to a $15 fee.)

If you live in a residence that requires card access, you can use the portal to deactivate your card until a new one is ready for pick up.
