UBC's exceptional sports and fitness facilities

Vancouver loves being active, and UBC is no different. On all corners of campus, you’ll find state-of-the-art facilities to get your sweat on, stretch it out, or toss around a ball with friends.

Here’s a sneak peek into the amazing active spaces you’ll find on campus in September.

UBC Aquatic Centre

UBC’s Aquatic Centre just opened in January 2017. It’s so much more than a pool and includes a lazy river, sauna, hot tub, steam room, accessible entry, and a universal change room. If you’re up for a swim, a soak, or even a cozy study space, you can do it all for free as a UBC student. Be sure to check out this shiny new space next to the UBC bus loop.

Student Recreation Centre (SRC)

The Student Recreation Centre is a great place to get your positive endorphins going. It houses UBC’s largest on-campus fitness centre, the BirdCoop, as well as three gym courts and a dance studio. Plus, lucky UBC students like you can take advantage of free drop-in activities like basketball, futsal, volleyball, wheelchair basketball, and cricket.

In the basement of the Student Life Building, the ARC is a brand new fitness facility designed for your fitness needs. With personal training space, functional fitness space, and universal changing rooms, the ARC is ready for anyone to come and work out in their own way.

Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre

UBC’s three-rink skating and hockey facility is a perfect place to visit during Vancouver’s fall and winter seasons. Drop-in skating is free for UBC students, and skate rentals are available if you’re up for trying something new. And that’s just the beginning! Don’t miss out on all of the Centre’s drop-in activities, including hockey, figure skating, and themed skating parties.

UBC Baseball Indoor Training Centre (ITC)

Batter up! Practice your batting and pitching at the UBC Baseball Indoor Training Centre on the south end of UBC. You’ll feel like a pro in the virtual batting cages that mimic famous baseball parks. And, whether you’re a pro or a rookie, the Centre is always a great place to whack away stress.

This list is just the beginning
