Find resources to help you get out there, find your people, and build campus community.
UBC is a big place, so chances are that there’s something here you’d be interested in aside from going to class. But where do you start? Go to a Thunderbirds game, grab a coffee with a friend, check out speakers and events, and get to know the people and places that set this campus apart.
University is way better when you have friends to share it with. Focus on shared experiences first – new friends will follow. By doing simple things like joining a club, participating in rec sports, or just saying hi to the person next to you in class, you’ll find that making friends is easier than you think.
From being a Orientation Leader to hosting a show on CiTR, there are so many opportunities at UBC. And don't think of getting involved as a distraction from your studies; the sense of social belonging that comes from doing things and feeling connected has a positive impact on both academic success and personal wellbeing.
