Jump Start and Collegia Leader opportunities

About the roles

As a leader within the Jump Start and Collegia team, you will work alongside faculty members, Centre for Student Development and Leadership staff, and other student leaders to build community with small groups of incoming students.

While representing your Faculty, you will support first-year students in developing connections and finding opportunities for involvement and resources to forge a successful path. This role will support programs including Jump StartCollegia, and Imagine UBC.

Position requirements

You must meet all off the requirements below:

  • Be physically located within Canada during your role.
  • Maintain good academic and non-academic standing.
  • Commit to the time requirements as outlined in the job descriptions.
  • Knowledge of in-person and/or virtual services and support options at UBC is an asset.

Skills and qualifications

To be eligible for the roles, you must demonstrate the following:

  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Excellent organization, communication, digital literacy, and time management skills
  • Interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to adapt to new and challenging experiences with a positive mindset
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team with students, volunteers, and staff
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional and personal development opportunities
  • Ability to empathize with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Capability to act as a UBC ambassador for student leadership and as a positive and professional representative of the UBC Jump StartImagine UBC, and UBC Collegia programs
