I am Stronger than My Depression: CBT Skills Group

About the group

The goal of this group is to explore strategies for managing low mood and reconnecting with the parts of oneself that are lost when depressed. Each session focuses on learning ways to improve low mood and includes activities to practice between sessions.

The primary areas of focus are:

  • The triangle of thoughts, feelings, and actions: how each side influences the other
  • Stress, depression, and lifestyle: how to find balance
  • Thinking styles: the interplay of thoughts and mood
  • Social life: connecting with others, connecting with oneself

Eligibility

The group sessions are held in person on the Vancouver campus. UBC Counselling Services recognizes the unique needs of each student and will provide alternate options if group programming is not an appropriate referral option or fit.
