UBC Collegia

Even though your classes might be online for your first term, it’s important to make friends and connect with your new UBC community.

Find community

Friends are integral to your success at UBC. Meet other first year students from your faculty, make new connections, and expand your UBC network.

Join regular small group gatherings to build friendships, ask questions to your peers and upper-year students, and have fun together at social events—your UBC community starts here.

Get peer and professor support

Get to know your upper-year student leader through regular check-ins and learn about their experiences studying in your faculty and navigating UBC. You will also connect with faculty members who can offer guidance on things like how to approach a project, where to find writing resources for a paper, how best to engage in an online class, or how to study for an upcoming exam.

University learning is different from high school learning - student leaders and faculty members are here to help you with this transition!

Discover resources and opportunities

UBC Collegia will help you find all that UBC has to offer through conversations, programming, events, and resources. Explore your interests through various involvement opportunities, student resources, and supports, all while building your community at university.

UBC Collegia let me know about all the opportunities on campus and provided me with a solid support system.

By listening to the experiences of my peers and advisors, I really found out what interested me at UBC and what opportunities I could pursue to explore them - I would have never been confident enough to apply for various student leader positions like Imagine UBC or Peer Programs if it weren't for Collegia.

Indigenous Students' Collegia

All Indigenous students—whether pursuing undergraduate or graduate level studies—are invited to participate in the virtual Indigenous Students' Collegia (ISC)

The ISC is a community for self-identifying Indigenous students to meet one another, connect over their experiences at UBC, and learn from upper-year peer leaders and faculty members.

First-year Indigenous students will have access to both a first-year virtual Collegia community, as well as the virtual Indigenous Student's' Collegia community. More information will be shared directly with Indigenous students in mid-August.
