The Simon K.Y. Lee Global Lounge and Resource Centre is a space for student-led global, intercultural, and social justice initiatives, sharing new ideas, making new friends, or finding support for events or initiatives of your own.
Enjoy free hot drinks and snacks during the exam period and find a quiet place to study. The Global Lounge is a welcoming home and a positive space for everyone, both in person and virtually.
Before submitting a booking request, please check the Global Lounge availability calendar below.
If the Global Lounge is available for your time and date, complete the online booking form. Please allow two business days for bookings during our regular hours and five business days for bookings outside of our business hours.
You will receive an email to read and complete a Global Lounge COVID-19 Event Safety Plan form once your booking is approved.
The Global Lounge is available to book from Monday to Friday, 12:00pm to 8:00pm.
If you'd like to book the space outside of business hours, you will be subject to a charge of $20/hour plus HST tax, payable to the University of British Columbia.
If your booking is for a recurring event, please email at global.lounge@ubc.ca. This can also be specified in the "Notes and Special Requests regarding this booking" section in the online booking form.
Large round room with chairs, an AV system that includes a 60" TV, DVD player, and ability to do PPT presentations, and more.
Room capacity: 40 people (some overflow chairs available)
Long, rectangular room with 3 tables and 12 chairs, small couch and table area.
Room capacity: 16 people
An open space with rectangular couch and low tables.
Room capacity: 20 people
Before you submit a request, please check the Global Lounge calendar below to confirm if your desired date and time is available. You can also find information on events held in the space.
The Global lounge understands that bookings may need to be cancelled. If you need to cancel your booking, please notify the Global lounge 48 hours in advance by emailing global.lounge@ubc.ca or calling 604 827 4774. Your booking will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
If you do not cancel your booking in advance, you will receive a warning. A second warning can lead to event organizers losing their Global Lounge booking privileges.
