International Students Support Group

About the group

Are you an international student at UBC? Feeling overwhelmed by the experience of being a student in a new country? If so, consider joining Global Connections, UBC's in-person international student support group. Meet other international students in a safe and relaxing space, connect and build a community of support on campus, and learn ways to navigate the unique challenges often experienced by international students.

Each group meeting will have a general thematic topic, and be guided by group facilitators. However, a variety of relevant topics are encouraged to be brought into each group meeting. Past group topics have included:

  • Adjusting to Canadian culture
  • Language concerns and challenges
  • Making connections and new friendships
  • Coping with academic stress and demands
  • Facing uncertainty and unknowns in a new country
  • Building resilience and self-compassion

I found it extremely helpful to talk about the things you always just 'think' about. I realized this in this group.
