UBC's first-year orientation and transition program for new students at UBC's Vancouver campus.

What is Jump Start?

Jump Start, at UBC’s Vancouver campus, is a first-year orientation and transition program for new students.

Jump Start is an 11 day university immersion program in August, 2017. All international students entering their first year at UBC are expected to register for Jump Start. Spaces are also available for domestic students from the Sauder School of Business and the Faculty of Land and Food Systems.

Who is Jump Start for?

Jump Start is designed to meet the unique needs of the following first-year undergraduate students doing their entire degrees at UBC Vancouver:

International students coming to UBC from abroad

International students already living in Canada

Canadian students who went to high school abroad

Domestic students in the Faculty of Land & Food Systems and the UBC Sauder School of Business

To participate in Jump Start, you should be entering your first year in either of the following Faculties or Schools:

  • Faculty of Arts (including the Bachelor of International Economics) - International students
  • Faculty of Science - International students
  • Faculty of Applied Science - International students
  • Sauder School of Business - International and Domestic students
  • Faculty of Land and Food Systems - International and Domestic students
  • Faculty of Forestry - International students
  • School of Kinesiology - International students
  • Vantage One - International students
