About the scholarship
The Rhodes Scholarships were established in 1902 to bring outstanding students from across the world to study at the University of Oxford in the interests of promoting international understanding and public service. 11 Canadians are selected each year to join a class of over 100 Scholars from across the world.
The Scholarships cover all approved fees and living expenses for 2 years in a second bachelor’s degree or a graduate degree.

Before you apply
Please research the academic programs offered at the University of Oxford before starting your application. A competitive applicant is able to express their suitability for a program that supports their academic ambitions.
How to apply
If you meet the eligibility requirements defined by the Rhodes Scholarship Trust and the UBC Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee, you will be invited to attend an information session in June.
Eligible candidates must seek endorsement from UBC by going through the UBC Rhodes Scholarship application process, which consists of an online application and interview. All applications are read by a Selection Committee, who will shortlist the strongest candidates for an interview. Around 2 to 3 candidates will be invited to apply to the Rhodes Regional Committee and an endorsement letter from UBC will be submitted to the Rhodes application portal on their behalf. Please do not contact the President’s Office for an endorsement letter as all arrangements are made through the UBC Rhodes Scholarship Selection committee.
The UBC online application will consist of a full curriculum vitae, a personal statement, an academic statement of study to the University of Oxford and a list of 6 referees submitted as a single PDF file.
