Tunes at Noon is back for its last show of the year! Tunes at Noon features free performances by UBC School of Music students, alumni, and more. This show will be featuring Artemisia Duo, an ensemble comprised of flautist Emily Richardson and pianist Susan Xia. This duo will be bringing the holiday spirit with a variety of Christmas music, so bring your lunch, listen, and enjoy.

Sound House is MOA’s new music series, featuring a fantastic and eclectic lineup of Vancouver bands and musicians. Sound House is a celebration of culture and music, set in MOA’s Haida House, against a stunning backdrop of Northwest Coast art and architecture. Gather around the toasty bonfire outside with friends, and enjoy the indie-rock and synth sounds of Cree band, nêhiyawak. nêhiyawak focuses on telling their story through rich vocals tied in with strong electronic and analog sounds. They hope to share with the audience their unique expression of Indigeneity through the music that they play. More info.

Beam of Light Ceremony: 30th Anniversary Memorial

Why you should go

Join others in observing the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. 

DETAILS

In response to the École Polytechnique massacre of December 6, 1989, Canada established December 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women. This day serves as a reminder of the gender-based violence against women in Canada and around the world that persists today. UBC will be one of 14 universities participating in a 30th anniversary memorial event together with the École Polytechnique. Join others in honoring the lives lost and participate in the “Beam of Light Ceremony” held at UBC and all participating universities, and simulcast on the CBC. More info.
