Student Health Services

Student Health Services offers year-round health care for registered UBC students. Services are provided by family doctors and registered nurses. We provide care for all current students of UBC and its related institutions, including visiting international students.

What to expect when you visit Student Health Services

Our doctors and nurses can help provide:

Drop-in health information from Nurses on Campus

Registered nurses from UBC's Student Health Services set up booths around campus each week. Drop by a booth to ask questions and get information about your health and wellness. UBC nurses offer personalized advice, tips, and information on a variety of topics.

Individual medical care

All services normally provided by your family doctor, including:

  • Sore throat treatments
  • Asthma treatments
  • Injury treatments
  • Bladder infection treatments
  • Vaginal discharge information and treatments
  • Pregnancy tests
  • Birth control
  • STI/HIV/AIDS tests and information
  • Third-party medical exams including those for school, insurance, driving, licensing, and employment
  • Pap tests
  • Counselling for mental health concerns
  • Immunizations (not bookable online)
  • Surgery (not bookable online)
  • Allergy shots (not bookable online)
  • Dressing changes (not bookable online)    
  • Other standard appointments

Specialist referrals

In most cases, you must have a referral from a licensed doctor to book an appointment with a medical specialist. Doctors at Student Health Services can provide you with referrals to any specialist you require.

The following specialists work on-site at Student Health Services:

These appointments cannot be booked online.

What can I do for myself right now?


Information about you, the type of services you access, and the content of your appointments cannot be released to anyone (including family) without your written permission with the following exceptions:

  • Information indicating that a child is in need of protection.
  • Information indicating that you may constitute a risk to yourself or others.
  • Information that leads to concerns about public safety.
  • Other statutory or common-law provision that requires or authorizes the release of confidential information.

Authorization for Release of Medical Record Information
Please complete the authorization form and return it to Student Health Service if you wish to release your medical record information to another individual or medical care office.
