Christopher SPENCER Memorial Entrance Scholarship in Engineering

Scholarships totalling $15,850 have been made available through an endowment established by Christopher Spencer. The scholarships are available to students entering the first year of the Engineering program at UBC. Christopher Spencer (1869-1953) had strong ties to both UBC and the history of Vancouver. He served on the Board of Governors of UBC from about 1919 to 1935. In 1952, when Christopher Spencer received his Honorary Doctor of Laws, he was referred to as a "merchant, philanthropist and 'founding father' of this University". The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.
