Faculty of Applied Science Leadership Award in Equity and Inclusion

A $2,000 award has been made available annually through a gift from Dr. Katherina Tarnai-Lokhorst (B.A.Sc., M.B.A., D.Soc.Sci., P.Eng.) for undergraduate and graduate students studying engineering who demonstrate leadership in advancing equity and inclusion. Dr. Tarnai-Lokhorst has advocated for equity, diversity and inclusion in her work as an engineering project manager, adjunct professor, and Board member and past President of Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia. She is a Fellow of Engineers Canada, and was made an honorary Fellow of Geoscience Canada in recognition of her decades of work as an advocate for inclusion and belonging in engineering. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Applied Science, and in the case of a graduate student, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
