The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin Legal Access Award

Awards totalling $26,000 have been endowed by the Law Foundation of British Columbia, the Peter A. Allard School of Law and members of the BC Bar to honour The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin, a former faculty member of the Law School at UBC. Recipients are J.D. students who have accepted summer or articling positions in underserved and/or rural communities in British Columbia, or in the area of public interest/social justice law in British Columbia. Preference may be given to students who have accepted articling positions over those who have accepted summer positions. Beverley McLachlin was the first woman to be appointed Chief Justice of Canada. The awards are made on the recommendation of the Peter A. Allard School of Law.
