Irene M. Stewart Memorial Award in Law

Award descriptionA $10,000 award has been made available through an endowment established by the Stewart Family and Fraser Litigation Group in memory of Irene M. Stewart (1948-2020) for an outstanding second or third-year domestic J.D. student who has achieved academic excellence and demonstrated an interest in corporate or commercial law through academic pursuits and volunteer involvement. Irene (B.A., LL.B. 1971) was born in Caterham, England, and moved to Canada as a child. She was called to the bar in British Columbia in 1972 and practiced for forty-eight years as a corporate and real estate lawyer before her unexpected passing. Irene was a partner at Russell DuMoulin and Gowling WLG LLP before joining Singleton Urquhart Reynolds Vogel LLP. Irene was highly regarded in the legal community for her outstanding legal knowledge and skills, professionalism and dedication to her clients. This academic award is made on the recommendation of the Peter A. Allard School of Law.
