The Christian and Missionary Alliance (the C&MA) represents a group of approximately 440 local churches across Canada that aims to be Christ-centred, Spirit-empowered, and Mission-focused in everything we do.

We are the 5th site for Tenth Church, a large multi-ethnic community in Vancouver. Our UBC Pt Grey site is made up of students, faculty, families, and neighbourhood residents. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has described Tenth as “a resting place for people from all walks of life.”
Tenth UBC is a community gathering on campus and working to create a place of meaningful connection and relationship, we’d love to have you join us.
UBC student athletes are encouraged to engage with the Christian faith and integrate it with their life and sport. The Athletes in Action sports chaplain fosters athletic fellowship among varsity athletes at UBC and SFU.
Reverends Michele and Anthony Yackel are the Site Pastors for Tenth UBC Pt Grey. Previously, they served as Co-Lead Pastors of UrbanRoad, a faith community they started in 2010 in Langley.
Over the years, Michele has served as a youth pastor, a global worker in India teaching theology and music, and worked in various pastoral and leadership roles. She has led and been a part of over 30 international mission endeavors, and served on various boards. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Theology and Cross-Cultural Communications, and hopes to finish her Master of Arts in the coming years. She has been licensed and ordained with PAOC since 1996, and recently with C&MA.

Over the last twenty years, Anthony has led people through vision, strategy, and communications, having served as a pastor, consultant, facilitator, and communications director in a number of different ministry environments and roles. Anthony received his Master of Arts in Leadership and Innovation in 2017 from Kilns College in Bend, Oregon. He is also a 2005 graduate of the Arrow Leadership Program. He has been ordained and licensed since 1996, serving with both PAOC and C&MA.

Michele and Anthony have been married since 2002 and enjoy life with their 2 teens. As a family, they enjoy travelling, sunshine, movies, laughter, and exploring the world of coffee.
Since earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Saskatchewan, Rod Alm has devoted 46 years to Campus Ministry with his wife, Kathy—9 at UBC and 36 at the University of Saskatchewan and University of Regina. In 2022, they returned to Vancouver to focus on a sports ministry of mentoring varsity athletes and coaches, the Athletes in Action Sports Chaplain.
Rod is devoted to assisting varsity athletes in exploring and growing in their Christian faith, teaching them to integrate it into their sports, studies, and social lives. Contact Rod at roda@athletesinaction.ca.
