What’s better than one bake sale? TWO bake sales!

DETAILS

To raise money for the United Way, there will be two bake sales on Thursday. The first is at TEF III from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and the second will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at CIRS. Stop by for some baked treats and help raise money for a good cause!

The Expanding Universe: Historical, Theoretical, and Aesthetic Observations

Why you should go

Learn about whether the beginning of the universe was “the birth from nothing” or “the birth from everything”.

DETAILS

This talk will discuss how the continued expansion of the universe has been accompanied in recent times by the expansion of cosmological ideas and concepts. Specifically, these ideas came from the Soviet Union in its final years to the rest of the world from East to West. Dr. Andrei Barvinsky, scientific researcher at the Theory Department of the Lebedev Physics Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, will survey the history of quantum gravity and cosmology since the final years of the Soviet Union.

Women’s Basketball: Shoot for the Cure

Why you should go

This special basketball game raises money for the Canadian Cancer Society.

DETAILS

For the 12th straight year, the U SPORTS Women’s Basketball Shoot for the Cure fundraising campaign is up and running. All 47 Canadian U SPORTS women’s basketball schools participate in this event by hosting a fundraising game at their school. This year, UBC’s game is on November 16th, when we take on Thompson Rivers University. Come cheer on your T-Birds and enjoy a game for a good cause.

UBC Farm Winter Markets

Why you should go

These farmer’s markets are almost done for the season—so get some fresh local veg while you can!

It might seem a bit late in the year for a farmer’s market, but the UBC Farm Winter Market is still going strong! With vendors like A Bread Affair, Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse, and, of course, in season produce from the UBC Farm, this market is keeping the spirit of summer and fall markets alive!
