Speakers include Andy Fisher, a founding director of the Community Food Security Coalition in the USA; Annette Aurélie Desmarais, CRC in Human Rights, Social Justice and Food Sovereignty, University of Manitoba; and Graham Riches, UBC emeritus professor of social work.

Strong Men from Mussolini to Trump

This talk will look at the rise of Trump in the context of a century of authoritarian rulers.

There has been lots of talk in the past few years about understanding Donald Trump using a psychiatric diagnosis. Speaker Ruth Ben-Ghiat will examine Donald Trump through a different lens: by seeing him as a continuation of the strongman trope, starting with Mussolini onward. This talk will look at the character and appeal of these authoritarian rulers.

Helping Hearts CPR & AED Training

Why you should go

You never know when CPR & AED training might be needed, so be prepared for when it is.

In Canada, someone goes into cardiac arrest every 13 minutes. In support of this statistic, UBC and AMS are partnering with Heart and Stroke to deliver CPR and AED training sessions.
