Check out “The Beautiful Brain: The Drawing of Santiago Ramón y Cajal”, the newest exhibit at the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery.
Back in the early 1900s, the Nobel-Prize winning Cajal sketched the incredible nerve cells and neurons he found in the human brain. His pioneering drawings, which bridged art and science, are now considered to be extraordinary works in both fields. See the mesmerising drawings yourself, for free.
Night Shift at MOA: Enjoy free performances and the beauty of MOA at night
Why you should go: You’ve always meant to visit MOA...why not now?

Price: Free
The Museum of Anthropology hosts an event free for students on the first Thursday of each month - and every one is different, so you can pick the one that interests you. Coming up first is “Asian Fusion” on September 7, which promises to be a night full of music, and laughter. Plus, have you seen MOA at night? It’s ridiculously beautiful.
Mysterious Barricades: A live concert to support suicide prevention
Why you should go: Come out with your friends and loved ones for great music in support of a good cause.

This concert is part of a series of Canada-wide concerts being performed and livestreamed throughout the day for World Suicide Prevention Day. Join UBC’s School of Music for free suicide prevention resources for yourself or friends, a supportive community, and beautiful classical music.
Conference on Rhythm: 3 free lecture-demonstrations on music and rhythm
Why you should go: For music nerds or anyone who wants to impress your music nerd friends, these are perfect for you.

Where: IKBLC/Music Building
This conference features 3 different lecture-demonstrations from music theorists, DJs, drummers, and more. All of the sessions are free and focus on the theme of “Entrainment and the Human-Technology Interface”. Not sure what Entrainment is? Come to the conference to find out.
Happy Days: An absurd comedy by Samuel Beckett presented by UBC Theatre Alumni
Why you should go: There’s a reception after each show with cake. Need I say more?
When: Wed, Sept 27 to Sat, Sept 30

Where: Frederic Wood Theatre
Described as “a human comedy on the slope of existence”, this Samuel Beckett play features a woman submerged in sand for the entire performance. Come for the show and enjoy cake, champagne, and lively discussion following each performance. The show is produced by UBC grads for the 19th annual UBC Theatre Alumni event, which benefits UBC Theatre students, so you can do good while enjoying a great show.
Harvest Feastival: An evening of delicious food and entertainment
Why you should go: An excuse to dress up a bit with your friends and check out some of the venues on campus you’ve been meaning to get to.

Where: Outdoors at The Nest
You don’t want to miss this event - and you’ll want to bring your friends too. The festival starts with a delicious, 6-course meal (some of which is grown in our very own UBC garden), and it gets better from there.
The Arts and Culture District will be alive with shows, events, and exhibitions for you to check out at your own pace, including Vancouver Theatre Sports and the UBC Symphony Orchestra, among many others. Regular admission is $40, so grab the huge student discount while you can!
