Updates to off-campus work
IRCC announced that the temporary policies allowing some international students to work more than 20 hours a week off-campus will not be extended beyond April 30, 2024.
From May 1, 2024, to September 2024, the usual on- and off-campus work policies will resume.
- If you are not eligible to work full-time off-campus during the summer scheduled break, such as you are a graduate or DAP student, or an undergraduate student who is not enrolled full-time before and after summer, you can work up to 20 hours a week if you meet the requirements.
- If you are eligible to work full-time off-campus during the summer scheduled break, you can work as usual.
- If you have co-op starting in the summer session and you have not received your co-op work permit yet, check our co-op page, then contact International Student Advising for support.
As of September 2024, it is expected that off-campus work hours will increase from 20 to 24 hours a week during academic sessions. IRCC will share more details. Check the April 29, 2024 notice for more information.
